Yoga during periods
During periods, aligning the body with the frequency of nature is very important. It is advised to avoid heavy household; strenuous activities like jogging, dynamic dance movements, and climbing mountains; demanding yoga postures like inversions and deep abdominal twists while choosing the asanas, fast breathing practices; and/or any activity that can pressurize the lower abdomen and agitate the mind. At “Gyan” we provide personalized mindful practices to women during periods that support the natural flow; conserve energy; avoid back pain, cramps, and migraine headaches; and relax the overall system.
Yoga for excessive and prolonged bleeding
Excessive bleeding occurs during transition from one phase to the next phase in a woman’s life, whenever there is imbalance in oestrogen-progesterone levels, both in adolescence and in peri-menopausal stage. The reason could be anything from compromised immune system, nutritional deficiencies, infection to blocked fallopian tubes. During excessive bleeding, a woman requires a different yoga practice, else it would result in depletion of energy. At “Gyan” we teach women how to set boundaries, handle underlying emotions, avoid stressors, balance the heat energy, and suggest appropriate sadhana, diet, and lifestyle modifications to avoid excessive and prolonged bleeding during menstrual cycle.
Yoga for abdominal cramps
Abdominal cramping can be a normal part of the menstruation process to expel the endometrial lining during periods or a consequence of emotional pain, hormonal imbalance, any underlying pathology, or intrauterine device placement. Pain can also be felt in the lower back radiating down to the legs, sometimes resulting in nausea or frequent urination. At “Gyan”, we encourage the participants towards diet and lifestyle modifications; regular asana and pranayama sequences to calm the nerves, restore hormone balance, relax abdominal muscles, improve circulation in the pelvic are, and prevent abdominal cramps.
Yoga for premenstrual syndrome
In many women, there are periodic emotional and behavioural symptoms occurring just before menstruation interfering with the activities of daily living. It is called as “premenstrual syndrome”. It ranges from mild mood swings and irritability, tender breasts, losing confidence, feeling insecure, weeping uncontrollably, to a severe aggression or rage, way different from normal behavioural pattern that not only affects the individual, but everyone around. At “Gyan” we offer personalized attention encouraging the individual avoid triggering activities, but to express out the creative potential from within, offer practices to balance hormonal fluctuations, improve circulation, balance heat energy, prevent fluid retention, to be aware of the premenstrual phase and be in tune with nature through periods of rest and renewal and truly experience the blessing of that phase.
Yoga for pregnancy and post-pregnancy
The health of the future generation and the wealth of the nation depends on women’s wellbeing in the society. It is definitely important for a pregnant woman to maintain her physical and mental wellbeing. This also includes preparing for pregnancy and healing post pregnancy. Appropriate asana-pranayama practice tailored to the individual needs helps the woman to undergo the pregnancy process with strong body and calm mind. At “Gyan”, we offer personalised practices appropriate to each trimester to handle morning sickness, strengthen the pelvic muscles and spine, create adequate space in the pelvic cavity, improve circulation, strengthen the reproductive organs, prevent varicose veins and swollen feet, calm the nervous system, overcome fatigue, and prepare the mind for pregnancy and easy delivery. After delivery, appropriate post-partum practices suitable for the individual is offered to help the woman heal the system, handle the lactating phase, and raise the child with love and care.
Yoga for Sleeplessness
A good sleep at night not only helps the individual to renew the system and cleanse the mind, but it has the possibility to make the dreams, a source of inspiration. Sleep disturbance occurs when hormone levels drop and in women it is mostly associated with menstruation along with symptoms like migraine headaches and bloating. Sleep disturbance impairs body’s defence mechanism creating emotional disturbance, irritability, lethargy, resulting in various diseases. At “Gyan” we recommend proper diet, sleep and other lifestyle rituals, and improve sleep pattern by offering a personalised practice to the individual.
Yoga for Eyecare
The eyes are the windows to the body. 80% of what we perceive comes through our sense of sight. With our current lifestyle practices, visual defects are more common. Preservation of eyesight is impossible without eye hygiene and mental relaxation.
At “Gyan” we teach eyecare practices to improve eyesight as well as to prevent common refractive errors.
